Due to some dumb-ass security restrictions, this will not work if you have a window or tab open that plays back sound or video, like youtube, pandora or other sites that use flash to play back sound. You can close the offending windows and this should start drawing. Vote for this “bug” at the adobe bug tracker.

Another variation of using AS3’s SoundMixer.computeSpectrum to get values. Description to follow.
